The Sage Says the Blue – by Max Heinegg

Sky is available if one breathes knowing
inbreath and outbreath as basis,

so the mind is not deciding, detailing
and therefore missing the kingdom

within is sky’s mirror, reuniting
small forms with astral energies,

earthbound boughs happily shaken
by the current of the sun, attached

yet hanging free, no need to be elsewhere,
bodies secure in stillness, voices aligned,

flowering just where and when they are.

Max HeineggMax Heinegg’s first book, Good Harbor, won the inaugural Paul Nemser Prize from Lily Poetry Press and was released in March 2022. His work has appeared in 32 Poems, Thrush, Nimrod, The Cortland Revew, and Borderlands, among others.
