Too soon, you want to tell it.
are not yet ready to wake from
the slumber that has kept us safe
these long winter months. See, not
even the snowdrops have dared
to surface yet. It has not snowed.
We are not yet ready to thaw,
to begin again. Can we not
wait a while yet longer within
the safe space that we occupy,
insulated from time’s certain touch.
Or have we, unbeknown, reached
the point, prematurely, where
the ways that we kept during
our long months of hibernation
have become, already, foreign to us?
