Paper Skin – Alan C. Smith

written for the Bermuda tissue paper kites

my new paper skin hums in the wind
soaks and tears in the rain
save your tears for the rain

my skeleton cross boned wooden
hanging from a tree
noose tethered flying from the tree

look what the climate
of the current does to me
ragged skin bleaching in the sun

see

like histories our futures come undone
not the same as they were or will again become
not the same memories or prophesies for everyone

my new paper skin hums in the wind
soaks and tears in the rain
save your tears for the rain
