First Kiss – Robert Filos

You, silhouetted within a shadow of light
bringing elegance along for the glorious ride

washed in our passage of the dial together
canopies of carnations struggling above still life

charging forward, ever slowly then retreating
as we gather the scents bound, ages pleading

your touch and my revealing bumbling
blending as the rivers meeting the ocean

a day and night ballet, swirling sweetness
resounding thunder rolls, as we touch lips

Robert FilosRobert Filos was born in New York City and spent most of his life working in the construction trades. The past year he has embarked on a journey of writing including poetry and short stories. Most of the short stories he writes relate to his experiences growing up in the Bronx during the nineteen sixties and nineteen seventies. Why? As the old blues man said, “It’s in me and it’s gotta come out.”
