Escaping the endless traffic
and the end-of-life arrangements
which hang like haze
over the Yonge Street maze.
I am the only person
in the Coach House Restaurant
in the transition time between
breakfast and lunch,
demolition and construction.
The sky becomes
a hole in the door
of the city, mid-growth spurt.
With just enough visibility
above the bank buildings
to guess
at what comes next.
