The pounding of the sea calls
while the cat on the patio
wants what she wants
while the bird makes its
own incessant three notes
over and over as in a dream
while the mosquito finds flesh
and the orange flowers bloom
while the sun makes six colors
out of the sky and water
and you wonder why everyone
cannot have this blue peace
