I was a grape in your mouth
reluctant to burst
but your lips brimming with desire
was a lullaby of lust
You should not have opened the book
to where faith as prescribed by the Gospels
is overruled by flesh
Your hand made loaves of bread
to feed my desire
You whispered a prayer in my ear
that betrayed my inexperience with women,
pulled me the length of your legs
like a woman at war
with a corpse
to burn it
to call its name among names—
another conquered replacement
of stepfather.
