Bad Mammo – Meg Files

Cat, dog, man gone
to bed, leaving me — no
I have left myself —
on the hearth of this waxy
desert fire with my hands
under my shirt holding
my tits. They do feel
fuller — with what seeds?
But themselves, really,
just someone’s handful.
My sisters and I still hold
contests for perky. I would
say ah the fire burns
low (and it does, flame-
encrusted embers) but
to write it I would lose
my crossed-armed cupping
of the known breasts, so
strange now, as I pull up
my shirt, so lurid, and
throbbing in the firelight.
