Aphrodite and Mars – Jakub Svanda

We chased Aphrodite away
and invited Mars into our relationships instead
pretending we’re all supermen

an illusion that helps Clark Kent
go to his job everyday
and sit and type at a computer
take a bus crammed with Clarks
home, where he settles by the warm glow
of Netflix’s new show

It’s about how we chased Aphrodite away
and invited Mars into our lives instead
pretending we’re all supermen
when in fact, we’re just Clark Kent.
He types at his computer
he plays games and wanks
to a warm red glow of a human
captured in a footage, undressing
pretending to be there with him

They both know they’re flat
just like pages with the lines
“We chased Aphrodite away
and invited Mars into our minds instead”

The one who wrote this
though themselves to be superman
but they’re just Clark Kent
typing away at the computer
with the warm black glow of words
making them believe someone’s there
